What to consider before renting a car?

Having a vehicle at your disposal has its comforts and advantages, and in the case of Mexico City, distances can be long. Besides, there are many places worth visiting in the surroundings of the city, so having a private car can be a good idea to make your stay more comfortable.

However, you should keep in mind that, at certain times of the day and mainly on the ring roads and major arteries of the city, traffic is usually chaotic. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid the start of the working day (7:00 am to 10:00 am) and the end of the working day (4:00 pm to 7:00 pm), being weekends, night hours and holidays the best times to drive.

In addition to a valid driver's license (national or international), hire the vehicle with full insurance, with an authorized agency present at the airport. Remember to have a GPS at hand (if the vehicle does not include a satellite navigator), respect all traffic signs, speed limits and do not drink alcohol if you are going to drive. In downtown areas, try to look for private parking lots for safety and to avoid unexpected fines.
